The 2012 Homer O. Harvey Scholarship winners are Patrick Carey, Hannah Cloh, Ben Conrad, Dong Hyuan (Paul) Han, Joshua Handler, Kelsey Hasmonek, Erin Helgeland, Jason Hirshman, Deanna Imhoff, Aaron Kohrs, Emily Mayer, Jenna Mendelson,and Megan Orticelli.
The students’ scholarships were announced at the Glenbrook North High School Honors and Awards Ceremony, held May 25. The scholarship provides $1,000 to each student.
District 28 created the Homer O. Harvey Scholarship Fund in 1989, after Harvey retired as longtime superintendent. Over the years, 266 graduates have received scholarships totaling $230,500.
The District’s PTO Council sponsors the annual 5K Run/Walk to raise money for the scholarship fund, so the district can continue to provide scholarships to students in honor of the late Harvey. The 2012 5K Walk/Run is scheduled for 8 a.m. September 29. More information about the event will appear in this column and will be posted on the District 28 website, www.northbrook28.net, over the summer.
